Commando Commercial Project: Survivor Aitutaki
Captain Lance Julian from the company Marine Team, approached Commando Boats NZ to manufacture aluminium “dory” or “skiff” style craft for use in the filming and making of the “Survivor” television series in the Pacific Islands. These 11 metre vessels although basic, provided an invaluable platform for filming of the series and in transporting equipment. The series crew were able to utilise the craft individually, or by means of a simple system, lock them together for use in tandem, or even assemble a platform between them.
A myriad of situations saw a basic design brief evolve from the veritable “meccano set” to where Marine Team had the ability to turn possibility into reality. Once the crafts versatility was realised, Marine Team transported the vessels to their next destination and work resumed anew.
